With your help, we aim to raise awareness and funds to Save Saint Columba's Church in Swords, Ireland.

This Georgian building is the focus of an ancient site where there's been Christian worship and witness for more than fifteen centuries.

As well as the Church, the complex includes the Victorian Lodge, the Medieval Bell Tower, and the Round Tower. The Round Tower dates back more than a thousand years to the monastery that Saint Columba founded here, circa 550 AD.

Ireland's greatest High King, Brian Boru, was waked here after his death at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 AD.

Due to devastating structural damage, this beautiful church was rendered unsafe, and had to be closed until the funds could be found to repair it. The closure of the church was a heavy blow to the parishioners, who lost their spiritual home, and to the entire local community, who lost both a wonderful facility and an inspiring resource.

Thanks to many generous people inside and outside the parish, the council, and the Irish Georgian Society, enough funds were raised to repair the building sufficiently to make it safe to enter.

These running repairs are only the start of the process of ensuring the survival of the cultural significance of the Church of Saint Columba and its site. The future of the church now hangs in the balance, with the highest priority being urgent works to make the church watertight and restore it fully, as well as to ensure the stability of the complex's structures, including the Round Tower, one of the oldest buildings in Ireland.

Your help now will preserve this landmark church through the 21st century and into the distant future, so please donate and help us make history!
